Grandpa Jeff

I spent most of my youth in Oklahoma, attended Oberlin College near Cleveland, then The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Graduation in 1988 led me to work in mixed practices in both Xenia and Millersport, Ohio.

In 1997, my wife Julie and I opened Village Veterinary Care in Pataskala, Ohio, a hospital for pet animals and horses.  My growing interest in equine dentistry was sparked when a client asked to purchase horse tranquilizers so that a non-veterinarian could float her horse’s teeth.  Being an avid learner, I started investigating horse dentistry to discover what I had missed in my veterinary education.  In 2007 Julie and I sold the pet animal business and launched Equine Veterinary Dental Services.

In 2010, I completed a Fellowship with the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry to become the fifth international Equine Veterinary Dental Fellow.  I perform over 700 dental procedures on horses each year, and I hope to continue researching the opportunities for this growing field of veterinary medicine.

Out of respect for the natural world, my practice vehicle is a diesel truck which has been converted to run on vegetable oil.  In this way I can support Ohio farmers and decrease petroleum dependence and emissions.

Julie rides her horse Zane Grey with the Central Ohio Mounted Search Unit, training and providing assistance to emergency response agencies around the state.
